Organizing the Story

The most common and recommended way to organize a news story is called Inverted Pyramid. We will talk much more about this when we begin writing so-called "hard" news stories — i.e., car crashes, house fires and the like.

Jim Stovall has created this very handy Inverted Pyramid Check List, which we will make use of when writing hard news stories.

Meanwhile, please be reading pp. 147-63 in the new book, pp. 153-72 in the green book.
